Damp Proofing

Damp Proofing

Rising damp is a huge problem in older properties where there is no damp-proof membrane, or the ground level is higher outside than the floor level inside. We use different systems for different damp issues, injection which injects a liquid damp proof membrane which stops rising damp.

Tanking

We remove 1.5m high internally of the damage wall above ground level spray it with anti-sulphur to stop the salts coming through the new plaster, we then mix sand and cement with a concentrate water proofer and apply it to the exposed area and leave to dry and then its ready for the finish coats of plaster. There are other methods available and work well it depends on how severe the damp is and the location.

Penetrating Damp

Penetrating damp is normally caused by the external render being lose or cracked, which is allowing water to seep through the mortar and damage the internal property. Chimneys that are no longer in use cause a lot of damp problems there is two options to rectify the problem one being removal of chimney stack and extending roof, or second option to cap off the chimney re-render it and seal it.

“We used JB Plastering for a whole house renovation on Gower. We are very pleased with the result and Jon & the team are now doing additional work on the outside render. We have already passed Jon’s number to neighbours who have seen the quality of the work.”
